Project GOPALAN

Generation of employment in the rural areas through GOPALAN, an entrepreneurial approach to earn and serve the community by raising Cows and selling milk and other by products.

Sahay Foundation, loans one milking cow to one family, and also supports with feed supplements and medicines for the cow. In return the family raise and serve the cow, earn money by selling milk and cow dung.

How the GOPALAN works:

The GOPALAN project inspire the spirit of self-employment among the target groups/community through need-specific capacity building exercises and facilitate their effective participation in the Dairy program. It promotes community ownership and partnering in the income generation program and activities being conducted by us in Dairy Project.

Besides improving the availability, access and use of infrastructure, the interface between the project and people is used for facilitating their participation in all income generation programs in a meaningful and productive way.

Responsibility of cow, including – shelter – food supply – Medicine i.e. overall care is taken by the organisation. The responsibility of well being and grooming of milking Cows rests with the respective family members , who maintain daily records of milk production, and the milk is collected by local Dairy Cooperatives.

Revenue by sale of milk is equally shared between the family and our organization. In this process we promote rural employment and facilitate income generation activity, as well as we promote benefits about cow breeding and raising.

With earning and breeding of cows, many more families are interlinked to GOPALAN project and this self financing and self employment project has reduced social evils and human devils.
